The University of Austin (UATX) is thrilled to announce its partnership with the Texas Bitcoin Foundation (TBF), Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI), Unchained, and Strive Asset Management to host the Satoshi Papers Symposium. This academic conference will celebrate the launch of the TBF’s inaugural publication, The Satoshi Papers: Reflections on Political Economy after Bitcoin, on April 16, 2025.
The Satoshi Papers offers a compelling discourse that draws parallels between the 18th-century American Federalist and Anti-Federalist debates and today’s evolving financial landscape. As society grapples with the implications of a decentralized digital currency, this symposium provides a platform for leading economists, historians, and social scientists to exchange ideas and insights about the interplay between money and state in a post-Bitcoin world.
With contributions from noted BPI fellows such as Avik Roy, Josh Hendrickson, Craig Warmke, and Natalie Smolenski, the symposium promises a robust exploration of the arguments presented in the book. Chad Thevenot, Senior Vice President of Advancements and Communication at UATX, states, “At the University of Austin, we are committed to the fearless pursuit of truth and rigorous debate about the ideas shaping our world.”

Unique to this symposium is the emphasis on student participation. Thanks to a generous donation from Strive Asset Management, all students in UATX’s inaugural class will receive free copies of The Satoshi Papers and direct invitations to engage in discussions during the event. Matt Cole, CEO of Strive, emphasizes the importance of education in navigating the volatile Bitcoin market, stating, “The Satoshi Papers is a vital contribution to Bitcoin education.”
The symposium will also feature a public reception, allowing attendees to purchase and get their books signed by the authors at the Bitcoin Commons following the event. This gathering underscores the shared commitment of UATX, TBF, BPI, and their partners to advancing the intellectual discourse surrounding Bitcoin and its future.
The collaborations involved in hosting the Satoshi Papers Symposium highlight a growing recognition of Bitcoin’s potential to redefine financial sovereignty and the relationship between state and currency. As UATX continues to shape the next generation of thinkers, the conversations sparked by this symposium will play a crucial role in preparing students for the challenges of tomorrow’s economic landscape.
In summary, mark your calendars for the Satoshi Papers Symposium on April 16, 2025. This event promises to be a significant gathering for those interested in the crucial dialogue surrounding Bitcoin policy, innovation, and the interplay with economics and governance.
