Telegram gaming sees NFT and user engagement boom in Q3 2024: report

Telegram gaming experienced a significant uptick in user engagement and NFT activity during Q3 2024, as per a report by Helika. The influx of unique wallets involved in NFT transactions skyrocketed from 200,000 to over 1 million within the quarter, with 600,000 wallets actively participating in NFT exchanges within games.

Player interaction with Telegram games also saw a boost, evident from the doubling of average session durations from 2.8 to 6.7 minutes. This indicates that enhanced game design elements are effectively retaining user engagement levels.

Analysis of regional data pointed towards a shifting audience landscape within Telegram’s gaming sphere, with a majority of players (55.91%) originating from Europe, diverging from the typical stronghold of Web3 gaming in Asia and Latin America.

Several gaming entities, such as Catizen, Gamee, X Empire, Rocky Rabbit, and Banana, witnessed notable growth in user base and transactions. Despite the positive trends, game developers encounter challenges due to the inundation of new games on the platform. These hurdles include limited marketing budgets and attracting users. However, developers are diversifying game genres and introducing varied experiences like simulations, RPGs, and puzzles, signifying the expansion and evolution of Telegram’s gaming landscape beyond simplistic casual games.
