Interpol Red Notice Requested for LIBRA Token Creator Amid Political Scandal in Argentina

An Argentine lawyer, Gregorio Dalbon, has made headlines by requesting a global arrest warrant for Hayden Davis, the co-creator of the controversial LIBRA token. This request comes in light of a political scandal that has sent shockwaves through Argentina, where Davis is accused of playing a central role in what some are calling a fraudulent scheme.

Dalbon formally submitted his request to prosecutor Eduardo Taiano and judge María Servini, who are currently investigating President Javier Milei’s alleged involvement in the transactions surrounding LIBRA. This cryptocurrency, which peaked at a staggering value of over $4 billion soon after its launch, has attracted scrutiny due to claims that it was designed as a pump-and-dump scheme.

In his filing, Dalbon emphasized the procedural risks associated with allowing Davis to remain free. He warned that Davis could use his access to substantial funds to evade justice by either fleeing the United States or going into hiding. “His central role in the creation and promotion of the $LIBRA cryptocurrency, coupled with the international impact of the case, increases the likelihood that he will take steps to evade justice,” the document states, highlighting the urgency of the request for an Interpol Red Notice.

Davis, in a recent interview, defended the integrity of the LIBRA token, claiming that its collapse was not a fraudulent act but rather a failure. He has claimed earnings of around $100 million from the launch, stating that he does not own the tokens and has no intention to sell them. However, reports surfaced suggesting that he had boasted about influencing President Milei’s sister, Karina Milei, to promote the memecoin, raising further questions about his ethical conduct.

Legal experts and analysts are now closely monitoring the situation, as the fallout from the LIBRA token’s launch continues to escalate. Following the token’s catastrophic drop in value and the subsequent legal actions against Milei for fraud related to the promotion of the token, the political and financial ramifications are profound. With multiple parties involved and serious allegations on the table, the demand for accountability is growing in a landscape characterized by rapid cryptocurrency developments.

As this case unfolds, it raises critical questions about the regulatory frameworks surrounding cryptocurrencies and the responsibilities of public figures in promoting them. With global implications at stake, the call for an Interpol inquiry signifies that the consequences of the LIBRA scandal are far-reaching and may set precedents for how cryptocurrency-related fraud is handled internationally.
