Global X Launches Innovative ETFs in Canada: Explore Bitcoin and Small-Cap Investments

Global X Investments Canada Inc. has made a significant stride in the Canadian ETF market by unveiling three new Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) on Cboe Canada. These ETFs—Global X Enhanced Russell 2000 Covered Call ETF (RSCL), Global X Bitcoin Covered Call ETF (BCCC), and Global X Enhanced Bitcoin Covered Call ETF (BCCL)—are designed to provide investors with exposure to U.S. small-cap equities and unique Bitcoin strategies aimed at generating semi-monthly income.

According to Chris McHaney, Executive Vice President, Investment Management & Strategy at Global X, “With the launch of BCCC and BCCL, investors now have two distinct ways to gain access to Bitcoin’s price movements while enjoying the benefit of distributions twice a month—an industry first here in Canada.” This launch is a response to the growing interest in investment options that deliver consistent returns to Canadians, particularly in the cryptocurrency arena.

Overview of the New ETFs:

  • RSCL: This ETF seeks to track the performance of the Russell 2000 RIC Capped Index, providing investors direct access to the performance of small-cap U.S. equities.
  • BCCC: Focused primarily on ETFs that hold Bitcoin, this fund writes covered call options on up to 50% of its portfolio to generate reliable yield, without currency hedging.
  • BCCL: With a dynamic approach, BCCL enhances its structure by incorporating leverage, aiming for a 125% leverage ratio designed to amplify exposure and potential returns, also without currency hedging.

All three ETFs are now available for trading under their respective tickers on Cboe Canada. The innovation in these funds emphasizes Global X’s rapid growth in thematic and income-generating strategies, bringing their total lineup on Cboe Canada to sixteen ETFs.

Cboe Canada continues to be a central arena for ETF trading, accounting for about 15% of all volume in Canadian-listed securities. Victor Werny, Head of North American ETP Listings at Cboe Global Markets, stated, “We are pleased to welcome Global X back to Cboe Canada. Their consistent innovation in creating easily accessible investment vehicles showcases their leadership in the market.”

This latest debut reflects an increasing desire from investors for sophisticated strategies that yield expected returns. Canadians can access these new ETFs through standard brokerage platforms, marking a noteworthy development in the investment landscape.
